Rent receipt generator

A rent receipt in rupees with the amount in lakh and crore words, the rented property and rent period, and landlord and tenant signature lines, without India-specific HRA wording.

In short

A rent receipt is the landlord’s written proof that a tenant paid rent for a stated period. This generator prints the landlord and tenant, the property address, the rent period, the amount in numbers and in words, and signature lines for both. Download a PDF or an image to print or send on WhatsApp. Nothing is uploaded.

How to use it

  1. Enter the landlord’s name and contact details as your business details, and add a logo if you like. They are remembered in this browser.
  2. Enter the tenant’s name, the receipt number and the date received.
  3. Type the rented property’s address and the rent period, such as November 2026.
  4. Add the rent as a line, with the number of months and the monthly amount. Add other lines, such as maintenance, if needed.
  5. Check the amount in words, then download the PDF and have it signed.

How it calculates

Each line’s amount is its quantity multiplied by its rate, and the subtotal is the sum of the lines. Sums are done in whole paisa (or pence or cents), so the figures add up exactly. The total is written in words using lakh and crore for PKR, and thousand, million and billion for GBP, EUR, USD and AED.

Each line is the number of months times the monthly amount, and the total is their sum. Rent is printed exactly as entered. No tax is calculated, so enter the amount actually received.

In the example above, the lines work out as 1 × 65,000 = 65,000.00; 1 × 3,000 = 3,000.00. The subtotal is 68,000.00. The total is 68,000.00, written as “Sixty eight thousand rupees only”.

Who should use it

  • Landlords who collect rent by cash or transfer and want to give a proper receipt
  • Tenants who want a written receipt for each month they pay
  • Property dealers and caretakers who issue receipts on a landlord’s behalf

Who should not use this

  • Anyone who needs a tenancy agreement; a receipt records one payment, not the terms of the tenancy
  • Landlords who must issue a receipt in a particular government or society format; check the format that applies to you
  • Anyone who needs tax advice on rental income; this tool does not calculate or advise on tax

Limitations

  • The receipt records what you type. It does not check that the rent was paid or that the amounts are right.
  • Your name and details go in the "Your business" section, so use the landlord’s name there.
  • The PDF is drawn with standard PDF fonts. Use the Image export for Urdu or other non-Latin text.
  • Nothing is uploaded or stored on a server. Clearing your browser data also removes the saved profile.

Common questions

What should a rent receipt contain?
At least the landlord and tenant names, the property, the period the rent covers, the amount, the date received and the landlord’s signature. This tool has a field for each of these.
Can I issue one receipt for several months?
Yes. Enter the number of months on the rent line and write the period, for example November 2026 to January 2027, in the rent period box.
Is this a legal document?
It is a receipt, a written record that the landlord received money. It is not a tenancy agreement, and this site does not give legal advice.
