How do you calculate 12 weeks from today?

12 weeks is 84 days, with today as day 0. The calculator adds 12 weeks to the start date (today unless you change it), or subtracts it in “before” mode, using plain Gregorian calendar dates with no time zone. Working days are weekdays that are not US federal holidays, counted after the start date up to and including the end date. Federal holidays use the observed date, so a Saturday holiday is observed on Friday and a Sunday holiday on Monday. If the result falls on a weekend or a federal holiday, the next working day is shown too. Employer, state and bank holidays are not included.

For example, 12 weeks after Monday, March 1, 2027: 84 days is 12 weeks, so the weekday stays the same and the date is Monday, May 24, 2027. Of the 84 days after the start, 60 are weekdays and none of them is a federal holiday, so the span has 60 working days. The dates are made up for the example; yours start from today or from the date you enter.

Who should use the 12 weeks from today calculator

  • Employees planning FMLA or parental leave
  • HR teams setting leave end dates
  • Anyone following a 12-week plan

Who should not use this

  • Anyone who needs a legal deadline, since courts and contracts have their own counting rules
  • Anyone who needs a state, employer or bank holiday list; only US federal holidays are built in
  • Anyone who needs clock times or time zones

Limitations

  • Dates are plain calendar days with no time zone, and the start date is not counted as day 1.
  • Working days skip Saturdays, Sundays and US federal holidays only; add your own holidays with the working days calculator.
  • A contract, notice or court rule may count days differently; check the wording that applies to you.
  • Results are calendar arithmetic, not legal advice.
  • Nothing is uploaded or stored on a server. Clearing your browser data also removes the saved profile.

What is 12 weeks from today?

Twelve weeks is 84 days, close to three months and a few days short of a 13-week quarter. It is the length of FMLA leave and the length of many fitness and learning plans.

For example, 12 weeks after Monday, March 1, 2027 is Monday, May 24, 2027. That is 84 days, or 12 weeks. Skipping Saturdays, Sundays and federal holidays, the span holds 60 working days. No federal holiday falls inside it. The date is a working day.

How do you count 12 weeks from a date?

  1. Write down the start date. Today is day 0, so tomorrow is day 1.
  2. Multiply 12 weeks by 7 to get 84 days, then add them.
  3. Check the weekday. 84 days is exactly 12 weeks, so the weekday does not change: a Monday start gives a Monday.
  4. If the date falls on a weekend or a holiday, decide whether your deadline moves to the next working day. The calculator shows both dates.

How many working days are in 12 weeks?

It depends on where the span starts. 12 weeks always holds the same calendar days, but the number of weekdays and federal holidays inside changes. The table counts working days, meaning weekdays that are not federal holidays, for four example start dates in 2027. The start day is not counted.

Federal holidays use the observed date: a holiday on a Saturday is observed on the Friday before, and one on a Sunday on the Monday after. Private employers and states set their own holidays, so treat the count as a guide and adjust for your own calendar.

What is 12 weeks used for?

12 weeks comes up in payroll, HR, benefits and everyday deadlines. The length is the same each time, but the rule around it is not, so check which one applies to you.

  • Family and Medical Leave: an eligible employee can take up to 12 workweeks of unpaid, job-protected leave in a 12-month period.
  • A 12-week fitness, study or savings plan, with the last day on the date you land on.
  • A 12-week pregnancy milestone or a 12-week program set by a clinic or school.
  • A quarter-style goal that is one week shorter than a 13-week quarter.
Watch the count. FMLA leave is measured in workweeks of your normal schedule, not in the 84 days shown here, and it can be taken in pieces. The calculator tells you the calendar date after 12 weeks of unbroken leave; it cannot know how your employer counts days off, holidays or partial weeks.

How does 12 weeks compare with nearby periods?

From Monday, March 1, 2027, these are the dates for common periods of the same kind, counted forward. The row for 12 weeks is the one this page is about; the others help when a deadline is a little shorter or longer than you thought.

Switch the direction to “before” to count back. 12 weeks before Monday, March 1, 2027 is Monday, December 7, 2026, 84 days earlier, with 56 working days in between. Use it to find a start date, a look-back window or the day a past deadline began.

How many paydays fall in 12 weeks?

A span of 84 days holds 12 weekly paydays and 6 biweekly paydays, depending on which weekday and week your pay cycle falls on. For semi-monthly pay (the 15th and the last day) expect about 6 paydays. Because the span is a whole number of pay periods, the count is the same wherever the cycle starts.

Can you add the date to a calendar or print it?

Yes. After you calculate, “Add to calendar” downloads an all-day .ics event that opens in Google Calendar, Apple Calendar and Outlook. “Copy link” saves your start date and number in the address, and “Print” gives a clean one-page sheet with the table. Nothing you enter leaves your device.
